Tasteful Art on the Avenues

Street festival on Armitage?

Music, food, charity, and local artists? Even better.

Wristbands (the proceeds of which are donated to Children's Memorial Hospital) for Tasteful Art on the Avenues will be available at select stores on Armitage, Halsted, and Webster between today and June 18th, for a discounted price of $7! After June 18th, they will be $10 - so be sure to get yours early.

So what's this magic wristband going to buy me, you wonder?

All participating Armitage stores will stay open late for the event, offering delicious appetizers and cocktails while you shop around. Each participating store will feature a local artist with their latest digs on display. And if you see something that suits your fancy...most art is for sale! Plus, each time you make a purchase at any of the stores, you are entered to win a raffle basket full of goodies from the neighborhood shopping district!

Meet Staci Woo, the newest addition to the Thread Lounge!

This California native once worked as an assistant designer for none other than JEANius Adriano Goldschmied. With an everyday mantra of “comfort, cool, quality...comfort, cool, quality”, Staci meditated her way to a collection perfect for both lazy and crazy days. By 2002, Woo had collected a fabulous fashion line based on simple recycled cashmere and vintage prints. From what began as a purse and intimates collection, Woo has now expanded into a fresh line of tanks, tees, henleys, and dresses designed for those seeking that run-around trendy look.

Each piece is created with the softest supima cottons, showing colored trimming and laid back prints. Woo has graced the pages of fashion magazines like Cosmopolitan, Glamour, In Style, Lucky, and WWD and can be spotted on the most popular TV shows (Desperate Housewives, The OC, to name a few). Even better…you can wear her line inside out!

Straight out of the sunny city, a.k.a Los Angeles, we’ve got a fantastic collection by Georg Roth. We're sure the “e” missing from his first name stands for eclectic, which is, naturally, the best way to describe his style. His Autumn '08 collection is very ominous with dark blacks and browns, but the palette and styles shown in the Georg Roth Los Angeles Spring/Summer 2009 collection are more refreshing then iced cucumber water and your latest facial.

With a variety of styles, prints, and eye-catching bright colors, Georg's unique designs create fantastic looks for even the pickiest males out there. From cool and casual to polished and sophisticated, GeorgRoth is our go-to guy!
